{best} Case of the Mondays: Johanna Long

We all know Mondays suck.
Each week, I will feature a Monday in the life of someone who can provide some comfort/humor/inspiration to the start of your week.

Meet Johanna Long!

Johanna is a NASCAR driver, with experience in the NASCAR Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series-- and was the youngest female driver to compete in the Xfinity Series.

Hello there... Here's a look at a normal Monday for me. I competed this past weekend in Pensacola in a local race. Unfortunately I got wrecked on lap 20, so it wasn't a great day on the track. I'm working hard right now to stay mentally focused and physically fit as I look for my next opportunity on the track. I recently moved back to Mooresville, NC from Nashville - so I'm still adjusting to my new community. Mondays are a bit of a "catch up" day for me - just like most people trying to get back in the groove!

6am
Up and at it! No time for snoozing. Straight to make coffee and lunch for my fiance. He is always running late on Monday’s so no time for me to be dragging. I take our dog Lucy out for a little potty break.
8:30am
I go straight to the kitchen.. My go-to is a protein bar and a cup of coffee to start my day. Lucy is trying to get a bite out of my protein bar so I feed her at the same time. Then I try to “tidy” up around the house while I am finally getting energy to get out and about.

9:30am
I started a Women's Bible Study last Monday. They always meet on Mondays at 9:30am to start the week off right. Really helps get through the week with a more positive attitude.

11:30am
I start getting “hangry” and I start thinking about lunch. I try to choose healthier options so I usually go home and make lunch.

12:15pm
By this time Lucy is needing to get out of the house and run around. She is a Weimaraner and has lots of energy! I try to walk her about a mile or two near our apartment.

1:45pm
We are gone almost every weekend at race tracks around the country, so that means I have loads of laundry to do. I usually take time to get all of it done so we can start the week fresh.

3pm
At this point we have ZERO groceries... I try to make a list of things we will need to get through the week. Which usually includes: milk, lunch meat, cheese, chips, FRUIT. I also get dinner options. I am not a great cook so things usually stay the same week after week...ha!

4:30pm
IT'S GYM TIME. I have been going to Burn Boot Camp which is extremely hard but for some reason I keep going back :) This class usually is 45 mins long but extremely hardcore.  As a driver, it's important to stay fit, and cardio is something I like to incorporate into my days!
5:45pm
I start getting a plan together in the kitchen and cooking away. Doesn’t take very long to prepare the food I could because its usually “Hamburger Helper”. Awful cook! I am very lucky if I make it out of the kitchen without any burns.
7pm
Time to clean up the mess. I usually just do the dishes and make sure all the coffee cups are ready the for next day!

7:45pm
Winding down with the news or sometimes even a movie! I also check in on my social media pages during this time. I have a lot of really awesome fans that have really supported me in my career!
9:15pm
BED TIME! I hit the hay early so I can wake up tomorrow ready to take on the day!

Keep up with Johanna on and off the track:

  2. Get your butt back in a race car. Such a talent. You do not win the Snowball Derby if you are not a great driver. I know its coming.. don't give up.
